| John Patrick Hennessey was born July 4, 1851 in Harrisburgh, PA, and died October 24, 1938 in Mankato, MN. He married Eleanora Caroline Dunsmore January 3, 1880 in Mankato, MN, daughter of Phineus Dunsmoore and Caroline White. She was born March 8, 1859 in Near Hastings, MN, and died September 3, 1926 in Mankato, MN. |

| John was a pioneer of Minnesota who lived in Mankato for 66 years. He moved with his parents in his early childhood from Pennsylvania to a farm near Belle Plaine, MN. His parents Patrick and Widow Barret were born in Cork County, Ireland. Later he lived with his sister at Shakopee, MN.
He learned the trade of sheet metal worker in his late teens at Shakopee and worked in the hardware store of F. K. Meagher, Sr. when he first moved to Mankato. Later he opened his own tin shop and for a time worked for the Hubbard Milling company. He retired at 80 years of age! |

| He married Eleanora (also spelled Elnora) Dunsmore in 1879. He died in the home of his daughter, Mary "Maime" Graif at 1331 N. Fourth St., Mankato, MN where he had lived for a number of years. He died late at night on Oct. 24, 1939. Funeral services were held at the Landkamer funeral home in Mankato at 8:30 AM on Friday and at 9:00 AM at the St. John's Catholic church of which he was a member. He was buried at Calvary cementary. |
