CIRCUS AND VAUDEVILLE
Hennessey Bros. and Company at Mankato Theatre on Friday Evening
From the Mankato Free Press

The Hennessey Bros. Big Circus and Vaudeville company will give an entertainment at Mankato Theatre Friday night. The following is the program: Slack wire, Pete Hennessey; parallel bars, Allison and Wood; rings, Pete Hennessey; tumbling, Udedofer and Reling: tight wire, Master L. Hennessey; trapeze, Pete Hennessey; swinging wire, Archie Crisp; horizontal bar, Jones and Charland; contortionist, Archie Crisp; swinging ladder, Pete Hennessey; dog act, Professor Knaub. Vaudeville and concert acts: Musical specialties, cigar box violin, mouth organ, H. Peterson; singing, Charles Huttl and H. Reichel; the celebrated "Bum Quartet," W. Scherer, C. Parker, W. Knoff, George Scherer, Jr.; zither arid banjo, Professor Boske.

The Hennessey brothers then held the spectators in awe and suspense for several minutes while they did performances on the tight arid slack wire that would make the head actor of the Ringling Brothers' troupe look on with envy. These two young men are surely artists, and above all, showed the result of patience and a natural knack for this kind of work. This was one of the spectacular features of the evening's performance.

Representatives of the Ringling Bros. have been in the city negotiating with the Hennessy Brothers, whose athletic feats have attracted considerable attention. The Hennesseys are contemplating putting an attraction on the road and representatives of some of the large shows have been induced to come and see their attraction. The Hennessys will appear at the country circus to be given soon.

Hennessey Bros.’ combination of high and slack wire, horizontal bar, trapeze and tumbling performances was very much appreciated by the visitors, especially the Mankato visitors, from the fact that the aggregation is made up of local young men. These Young men, who a little over a year ago started to practice for pleasure and pastime, so rapidly developed into good performers that they soon attracted the attention of those interested in such performances and now their services are in demand at all the local fairs.
