What is the origin of Flashmeister Graphics?
Having been in the graphics business either as a printer or as a designer for over 25 years this is "right up my alley!" I published and printed a large-format Christian newsletter in the late 70's and early 80's, so publishing "E-zines" is an extension of that. Having had a debilitating accident in July of 1997, it was necessary to refocus my energies from working in a print shop environment to something that related to printing but required less physical attention. I don't know where this road will take me but so far I've combined my graphic skills with my writing skills along with my interest in computers to place myself in jobs such as a graphic designer and publications specialist in an electronic design facility and an print-ecommerce web designer at a large midwestern facility. Now, I'm aiming my sites toward web site development for others.

What are some web things I've done?
Besides weekly upkeep on a church site at Grace Baptist Church and my own personal sites at Ken's Sales, Flashmeister Grafix, and Ken's Place, I've had the opportunity to setup and develop the site Kendra's Kandles for an entrepenuer who is now mothering her first child in Missouri and is, therefore, no longer conducting business. Two sites that I designed as a member of their respective boards are One In Him Ministries and the Blue Earth County Chapter of the Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life. My Kids Design, a scrap-booking site, is unfinished and taken over by the owner but was begun by me. I setup several confidential sites for Carlson Craft Printers in Mankato, Minnesota. These are sites that went "live" but there are numerous sites in various stages of development that never have been published. My most recent venture is working with WebMissions, donating time for developing sites for missionaries.

Confused about the differences between viruses, worms, and Trojan horses?
This topic continues to cause much confusion for many computer users, and understandably so. While viruses are different from worms and Trojan Horses, they tend to be bundled all under the umbrella of "viruses" to minimize confusion. It might be more appropriate to describe all three as "malicious code" and although there are some fundamental differences between viruses, worms and Trojan Horses, there are also strong similarities in they way they work, and especially in the way they're delivered to the victim.

A virus infects programs and files, and then
spreads the infection to any other files and
programs that it comes into contact with.

A Trojan Horse rarely infects other files, but is usually
designed to perform a certain task - erase data, steal passwords
and data, track the user's behavior, etc.

worm causes harm by replicating itself, so often that it can
bring computers, email servers, or networks to a halt. Worms
can also carry destructive payloads.

people have more concerned with "Spyware." Rightly so! What
is spyware?
Spyware
is computer software that collects personal information about users
without their informed consent. The term Spyware was coined in 1995
and is often used interchangeably with adware. Personal information
is secretly recorded with a variety of techniques, including logging
keystrokes, recording Internet web browsing history, and scanning
documents on the computer's hard disk.
